How to Get Monetized on Twitch

Updated on January 11, 2026

Note

It’s important to look at monetization as a long-term goal, as this can take anywhere from a few months to even a few years.  Just remember, it’s estimated that less than 1% of YouTube channels make money and an estimated 93% of Twitch streamers average less than 6 viewers.

As I covered in a previous section, it’s easier to become a Twitch Affiliate than a YouTube Partner, even after YouTube introduced the “expanded” program that halves the number of minimum subscribers required to qualify.
